Farewell, Majel "Lwaxana" Barrett Roddenberry

I am very sad...I really enjoyed her presence in all the Star Trek series taking place in the XXIVth century. Lwaxana Troi was a lovely and much beloved role...a funny and profound female role. I am going to miss her so much...but she will remain in my mind as long as I stay alive.
I LOVE YOU MAJEL BARRETT...MAY YOU REACH THE MOST DISTANT STARS, WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE...MAY YOU SHARE THESE STARS WITH YOUR -and our- BELOVED GENE RODDENBERRY.

My deepest most heartfelt condolences to Rod, his entire family and friends.

I never met this great lady in person but she was a big positive part of my live growning up.

I'm stunned...

I could scarcely believe my eyes when I heard the news that Majel was gone. She was an incredible lady and I feel very lucky to have been able to see her in person and speak with her. She even autographed a photo collage of herself and a zine of mine featuring her character in TOS, Christine, with Spock, which has always been a favourite Trek pairing of mine. I enjoyed her as Lwaxana Troi, certainly, but Christine was my favourite character she played.

I miss the others who are gone, including Gene, but Majel was always special to me. She always had the reputation of being the most accessible of the original Trek stars. I'm glad to say too that I got the autographs of them all, but hers is the one I most cherish, especially since I got it more than once. I even wrote her once and she sent me an autographed picture!

My heart goes out to her son Rod and all those she was close to. I told another friend of mine about her passing and she intends to do tribute art in her honour, as she did with the others, but she feels basically as I do regarding Majel. Only four left of the originals now... I don't think I'll ever get used to it.

I will never forget you, Majel. You gave us Trek fans more than we can ever reply. Rest in peace forever, especially since you're now reunited with Gene.

A Lady and one of a kind person

I'm shocked and sad. Oh Rod, we didn't get along for a long time, but you're in my thoughts. I hope you can cope with it. Please accept my deepest most heartfelt condolences. Mom will always be in our hearts!

Unhappy Our uniting voice, our original 'Number One'

Unbelievable that she is gone.
I will always remember how sweet it was to rediscover her on TNG. Now that seems so long ago.
So many memories...
She will be missed

Was she able to do any work on XI?

The First Lady

Please accept my deepest sympoty for your loss. Majel was an amazing woman, though I have never had the honor of meeting her. I know nothing can make what your going through any easier, but take comfort in the fact that she will never be forgotten by anyone who has ever heard the name Star Trek or Lwaxana to the most hardcore Trekkies like myself. She will live on through Trek and everyone who knew her. Again please accept my condollences.

When I recover, I will make a memorial page on my site special for Majel. I can't begin to tell Rod how much I wish I could give him a hug and say I'm sorry for his loss. I will truly miss her, as seen by the memorial thread I started. If anyone can love someone like a mother they never met, I know I did Majel.

Gone but not forgotten

Marjel has been in my life since the begining of StarTrek. I can't remember a day in the last 20 years that I haven't heard Her voice! Sadness reigns in my house!

Main computer is now offline......

I met her and was blown away by her genuineness and caring. The world is a darker place for her passing.

Be at peace dear Majel and may you have found your beloved Gene waiting for you.

Her voice is not gone. It is saved on many movies, videos, various places on my website, and even on my comp. How would you like it if I shared some of my comp sounds and wavs of Lwaxana/comp and I THINK I even have one of her as Chapel. I'm not sure though. Rod would just dread my comp- it says, "Program loaded and ready", as well as many other Majel comp sounds. About the only thing it doesn't say is, "Rod, get off the computer."

If interested, I add them to the memorial page for download. Then you can hear her anytime you want, including saying, "I can swim." I promise you, though, her voice is not gone. Neither are pics of her. I have a ton of them! Tell me what you want and if I have it, I'll gladly share it.

I will miss Majel Greatly only I found out today by going on to this site. I've been a fan since I was seven my mom would watch TOS all the time and I loved both Spock and Nurse Christine Chapel when I was growing up. I also grew up watching TNG also and I loved her as Lawaxnna Troi. Trek meant a lot to me growing up and still does I was born with a rare heart aliment that I had surgery for and I was leaning disable and she always made me fell that was ok to be different. I will miss her greatly and it feels like a member of my family as died today also.

Rod I can not begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. As the Valcans we grave with thee and as the Minbari would say she is in the place where no shadows fall with your Father.

May Angel lead you in my friend you will be greatly miss.

I have just woken up to this very sad news. My deepest condolences to the Roddenberry family.

I grew up watching Majel appear on The Next Generation, and as my enjoyment of Star Trek grew so did my appreciation of the impact she made in front and behind the camera. She oversaw a golden era of the show which is often harkened back to.

It was great to hear of her participation in the next movie, a film which is even now attempting to recapture that era. Yet it is a hundred times more sad to hear of her passing.

My greatest sympathies to her family.

Another light in the Trek universe goes out

Voyager is a little over half way through its current repeat on Virgin1 in UK, and TNG has recently been on BBC2.
Truly a shock to read that Majel Barrett Roddenberry has passed away.

I was a keen watcher of TOS in the 1970s, as well as TNG. Not until I happened to see the original pilot of TOS, with Majel in the 'Number One' role did I realise just how great a figure she was to Star Trek.

Of course, the Trek universe always reflected the culture of its days - you only have to see the trailers for the new Trek film and smile at the short skirts to see that one - but I always felt they missed a huge trick with swapping Spock into the place of 'Number One'. Especially when compared to Riker's role in TNG.

Well, next time I watch Voyager - tomorrow morning before the kids get up - I'll raise a glass to Majel's memory. A sad day.
