Majel will be sorely missed

I came home and started talking to Elorie and she said she was looking at the news about Majel. I opened my email and said, "Majel's everywhere! What's happened?" I just knew what she was going to say, but I had to know. She confirmed my worst fears. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet her, but I am even more sorry for Rod. (Only a sympathic one)

However, I am so glad she died in her sleep. It's the only way to go.

I will always appreciate and adore this pic of Majel

Even though we never got the chance to meet, I am so, so, so glad she got to see the gift and had it for a short time on her MySpace page.

But this one will always be my favourite:

But all of us... , with sadness and joy, love and appreciation, will always share this one with her:

We'll miss you, Majel.

Sorry for the mess up. Please do not delete this one, Kestra. This was the first one, but I got a database error and thought it didn't post. Please save this one and delete that other one. Thanks.

Just when you are trying to beat time, time beats you. I really wanted to meet her, but at least she did get to see "The Gift".

Glad you loved it then and now, Kes.

She was like a mother to many of us. BTW, I made a $10 donation, through paypal to Precious Paws in Memory of Majel Barrett-Roddenberry. I hope it gets there with that message attached. Please let me know. It would seem we both had a love for animals. It's not much, but it was part of the Xmas money my mother and aunt sent me. I can't think of a better place for it to go or in memory of.

I should be concerned about Rod, but I can't help but to cry because I will miss her painfully.

i too am taken aback by the grief i am feeling.

i chose my handle becasue of TNG epi: "Dark Page". because Lwaxana's first daughter Kestra died in a drowning accident when she was 7. i had an nde from drowning when i was 6. so i sort of feel like i've lost a mother.

i was a teen when ST first aired. my family and i watched faithfully. we always got a kick out of how Nurse Chapel would chase Spock, and he barely noticed her. we especially got a kick out of her in the epi: "Return To Tomorrow", when she got to share consciousness with Spock. and look on her face when she said: "We shared consciousnesses." that made us laugh.

I was just a few months old, but my mother had me there when she watched it as she nursed me. I still remember being 4 y.o. sitting in a Lazy Boy watching Trek and the memories don't stop from there. You wouldn't believe how I cheered when I saw Majel was Lwaxana Troi.

My nick, which I like better than my real name, is a Betazoid-ation of my real name. Like Lwaxana and Majel, it is a very rare name, very unique. It's a shame she wasn't my real aunt, but I'll always think of her like an aunt and the mother I never had.

Like I said, she will have a special page on my website in memory of her. I just wish I could stop crying though. I really should be more concerned about Rod right now, not dreams unfulfilled and silly stuff like that, but I can't help it. I just somehow felt death was going to beat me to her and it did. I kept saying and thinking time was running out and it did. Not enough time or anything else in life, which makes it all that much more precious and Majel did have a long, fulfilling, and precious life. A wonderful and precious rolemodel.

I can't stop tearing up. Majel was always a force to be reckoned with, and always there. It's hard to think of her not being here without feeling emptied out.

Sorry to bump this up again, but I want to tell the story of how I got the pic autographed pic above, along with how she stumbled upon my video "The Gift".

I joined MySpace and stumbled upon "Majel's" page. I made the friend request, not really believing it was Majel, but still... Next thing I knew, her assistant was contacting me and telling me she saw the video and showed it to Majel who absolutely LOVED it. They added it to Majel's page, while I was doubting it was really Majel. I had previously left a message that while I knew it was probably not her, I thought it was cool something for Majel was on MySpace. Even after her assistant contacted me, I still admitted I had my doubts.

Next thing I knew, there was a comment left on my MySpace page that was truly of Majel and signed, "Peace and Love, Majel". OMG! IT IS MAJEL! Something about it just felt without a doubt, Majel. I commented back and apologized for all my doubts and questioning. Next thing I knew, her assistant PMd on MySpace and asked if I wanted an autographed picture and if so, what was the address they could send it to. Um... What if I was wrong? What if someone managed to take on her net persona? What if... What if...

I stopped myself and replied with a "YES! I would like one." I sent my address and the next thing I knew I had the autograph pic come in the mail with an address (I forgot what it was) which affirmed in my mind that it was indeed Majel (and her assistant) I had been corresponding with on MySpace. I almost fell to the floor with absolute shock. I came that close and yet I never told her how I felt about her or even told her how she and Gene influenced my own life. I didn't know how though, because I didn't want to share it with her assistant too, because it is far too personal for just anyone's eyes.

Sadly, MySpace took Majel's page down for some reason and it never was put up again. Yes, it was MySpace who did it or at least that is what her assistant, who also has a MySpace page, said. And sadly, she died without ever knowing how she influenced my life and I never was able to offer her a hug in person. However, for a short time, we shared a bond, via the video above, for it is on my MySpace page and was on hers at the same time. It felt very much like an empathic bond between us, even if it was for a brief moment in time. IF it is possible to love someone like a parent, even though you never met them in person, I did Majel.

However, I believe, even though she and Gene may never know, I think there is still hope to share it indirectly with them, even though it is not direct. I just don't think Star Trek will ever be the same now that they are both gone. Still, the excitement of being even that close to Majel, yet so far, will last at least for my lifetime. I still can't believe I was actually communicating with Majel, but the evidence says I really was and I'm very happy I got to communicate that much to her before she died.

It probably will. If the message is not relayed by the "in memory of" gift message, the words are here for Rod to know, and it's usually what is in the heart that counts the most, anyway.
Even if it gets there late, I'm sure Rod and other family members will greatly appreciate it --even if it only shows up on roddenberry.com, if not in the gift card.

Just an FYI, and Kestra probably remembers this, too--
when the philosophysphere.com was operational on the internet (Rod started it with some webmaster help),
and Earth:Final Conflict was on Tv (first time shown eps), several people asked if Majel actually wrote back to her fans. Rod personally replied (on the website) that *YES* his mom tried to write back to all of her fans (when possible -- time permitting).

Mriana, you have that *reinforcement* of info now to actually believe it wasn't just a dream, and you really did hear from her.

Also, I just wanted to say *thank you* to Mriana for sharing those lovely photos above, too.

Majel certainly had many interesting character roles.

But my favorite moment about her being Lwaxana Troi was on DS-9, when she and Odo got stuck in the elevator, and she let Odo morph into his natural shape while she gently and graciously held him in her dress as his temporary *bucket*. That was one of the most precious moments on that series to me.

Up until that time, Lwaxana just didn't seem to be sensitive enough in DS-9 (because she seemed very demanding or spoiled in some degrees), on most of the story levels (or at least to Odo), until she and Odo both got stuck in the elevator with no place to go (and no bathroom, too!) for more than 12 hours. I think it was also Lwaxana who was the one who kissed Odo good-bye when he rejoined his people back on the planet where his *species* existed and lived. That was another very touching and beautiful moment. Very sad too, because she really did love him.

You're welcome. I was glad to share.

Yes, I liked her paired with Odo. I was sorry they married and then parted (The Muse). I wished they would have stay together. I made a video pairing them together. Well... part of the video has them paired and the other part he's paired with Kira. It is to the song, "I Want to Know What Love Is". Kira and Majel tried hard to show him and I think he did learn.
