A role model lost but never forgotten

As Luxwana Troi, Majel gave us a woman of a 'certain age' who was beautiful, spirited, smart, sexy and had such joie de vivre. She's my role model, much as the Golden Girls are. I wanna be like that when I grow up.

But my favorite episodes are the ones where Majel showed us Luxwana's inner beauty--the death of Deanna's sister, using her skirt as a 'container' for Odo when he couldn't maintain his shape. There was so much more to her than the sexy silliness.

I never had the pleasure and honor of meeting Majel but I can't help but believe she had all of Luxwana's qualities and more.

You are correct. Mrs. Roddenberry stated in an interview that she felt that she was 95% like Lwaxana, but, her son, Rod, said "100%" like her famous character. That when he watched his Mother on the tube, he was watching his Mother, not a character.

Yes, she most definitely was a role-model and I strive to be like her. Of course, as I mentioned in some other thread, my sons say I am Lwaxana Troi. Gee, I certainly hope so!
